Information kept on your device

WearMyShelf stores the information you deliberately add or create, including fragrance records, notes, favorites, profile edits, wear logs, ratings, comfort notes, app appearance choices, and references to custom bottle photos. These records power Today, Plan, Layer, Buy Guard, Shelf analysis, and wear learning on your device.

A full .wmsbackup file can contain the complete Shelf, wear history, preferences, and supported embedded photos. Backup files are created, saved, moved, and retained under your control.

Location and local weather

Location is optional. When you request local weather—or when the app refreshes weather in the foreground after you have already granted permission—WearMyShelf may use a recent last-known Android location that is no more than 30 minutes old to speed startup. If no recent location is available, the app requests a low-accuracy current device location. Latitude and longitude are rounded to four decimal places and sent by HTTPS to the MET Norway Locationforecast API. The response supplies air temperature, relative humidity, and a weather symbol. WearMyShelf converts Celsius to Fahrenheit and maps the symbol to a plain condition and icon.

WearMyShelf does not request background location and does not write the current weather result into your Shelf backup. You can deny or revoke location permission and continue using your Shelf, Wears, manual Plan, Layer, Buy Guard, backup, and catalogue features.

MET Norway operates the weather service. Its terms state that a direct app request provides the device IP address and rounded coordinates to its access logs, which are stored in Oslo, Norway. No Shelf record, fragrance, wear log, photo, note, or backup is included in the weather request. Review the MET Weather API Terms of Service.

Weather data are provided by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) and are used under CC BY 4.0. WearMyShelf changes temperature units and maps provider symbols; MET Norway does not endorse WearMyShelf.

Sharing and third parties

WearMyShelf does not automatically upload your Shelf, wear history, notes, photos, backups, exports, or support reports. Copy, save, export, and share actions occur only after you choose them. Android then lets you choose the destination.

The app contains no advertising network, behavioral analytics, cloud account system, or automatic crash-report upload. Apart from the optional MET Norway weather request described above, the app’s core ownership tools work from local data.

Photos, files, and permissions

Camera or photo access is used only when you start an image action. Location access is used only for optional local weather. Internet access supports the MET Norway request. Android may create a private temporary copy when you share a file; WearMyShelf keeps new copies available for at least 24 hours and removes only its own older temporary share folders after a later successful launch.

Retention, deletion, and protection

Local records remain until you edit or delete them, reset the Shelf, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app. WearMyShelf can remove older unused copies from its private image folder while preserving images still attached to saved bottles. Files you deliberately save outside the app remain under your control.

Use the in-app deletion controls for individual records and the guarded reset control for the complete local Shelf. Uninstalling or clearing app data can permanently remove local information, so keep a current verified full backup before either action.

Security and your choices

WearMyShelf uses Android app-private storage and HTTPS for its optional weather request. No storage method can guarantee absolute security. Protect the phone with a screen lock, keep the operating system current, and store backup copies only in locations you trust.

You can review or revoke app permissions in Android Settings at any time. The in-app Privacy & data screen explains the same choices in plain language and links to backup and permission controls.

Questions and policy changes

Privacy questions can be directed to the developer contact shown on WearMyShelf’s Google Play listing. The in-app Feedback & support screen can also prepare a privacy or support report locally; nothing leaves the phone until you choose Copy or Share and select a destination.

If WearMyShelf’s data practices materially change, this policy will be updated before the changed behavior is released. The effective date at the top identifies the current policy.
